Charlotte Stephanie Simons (The Netherlands, 1992) is a freelance journalist and writes for various Dutch media platforms, such as VICE, i-D, LINDA.meiden and OneWorld. Throughout the years she has mostly specialised in mental health, feminism and Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2011 she stayed in Malawi (Southern Africa) for a while, where her love for the continent started to develop. She later went on to study African Languages and Cultures at Leiden University in The Netherlands. She has spent time in Nairobi (Kenya), Kampala (Uganda), Johannesburg (South Africa) and New York City and is currently working on her first book about orphanage tourism in Sub-Saharan Africa.
