Lidewey van Noord (1985) made her debut in 2016 with Pellegrina, an ode to the history of
Italian cycling in the form of a travel narrative. The book was nominated for the Nico
Scheepmaker Beker (Sports Book of the Year), won the Zinnen Roës Award, and was
translated into German. Van Noord’s fiction debut, the novella De Spaanse renner (2022),
earned her a second nomination for the Nico Scheepmaker Beker. In 2024 she
published Vluchtheuvel, a memoir. De as komt eerst (2026) is her debut novel. Van Noord’s
work is driven by a deep fascination with how people connect – with each other and with
their natural environment.
